The Undergraduate Medicine and Health
Science Admission Test (UMAT) is designed to assess a range of
non-academic personal qualities, which are considered important for
the study, and practice of medicine, dentistry and other health
professions. The tests are developed each year to rigorous
professional and technical standards by the Australian Council for
Educational Research (ACER -. an independent national research and
development organisation) on behalf of a group of universities (the
UMAT Consortium) formed for the purpose of collaborating on
selection testing of applicants for bachelors degrees in medicine
and health sciences. ACER is responsible for the administration of
UMAT on behalf of the UMAT Consortium.
UMAT is forever changing as are the
ways in which it is used. The number of courses it relates to also
grows each year:

What
is new for 2008
2007 saw a seamless transition from
2006 with minimal changes to the UMAT. It is expected that the
previous seven years of tumultuous UMAT modification has now settled
and that the 2008 UMAT will hold no surprises.

Please note:
the NIE course material is not accessed on line.
With online material you will have no
ownership, limited access and an experience not true or realistic of
a paper based exam like the UMAT.
The NIE course material is
professionally supplied as 8 Books. You own these books forever, can
access then at any time, can underline, highlight and quickly cross
reference information - you can study, read, work and learn where
ever you may need to. Plus our written material 100% mirrors the
UMAT as a paper exam that is sat flat on a desk top. Trust us, this
is important.

Why are we the leaders in UMAT
preparation? • Quality UMAT specific Teachers and Consultants. •
Practical, Up to date and Effective UMAT preparation materials and
strategies. • Concise, Informative and Relevant Tutorials. • Full
reality based UMAT Trial Exams - The only true indicator of your
strengths and weaknesses under UMAT exam conditions. • Research,
Review, Rewrite all UMAT materials, every year including relevant
changes and all new practice questions.
Our UMAT Prep notes, practice questions and trial
tests are reviewed and rewritten each year. A number of changes were
made to the style of questions for the 2002 and 2003 UMAT,
especially in Sections II and III. At NIE we are fully aware of the
importance of these changes and our preparation material reflects
this accordingly. Our notes also reflect the drastic
changes to the 2006, 2005 and 2004 UMAT which included the modified
presentation and grouping of questions and the enhancement of
recently introduced UMAT question styles.
Established in 1999 NIE has a proven reputation as a legitimate
Educational Organisation that provides sound academic programs. If
you are after non UMAT specific training, courses run without
lecturers or experienced staff, on-line programs that have limited
access and no flexibility or fly by night courses with big promises
and unrealistic guarantees then don't enrol with us.
Make no mistake - the NIE UMAT programs are absolutely unique.
Why? Because we have the academic staff to support such an intensive
program plus the UMAT experience and success to prove it.
